Come cook with us

Parla Cucina is a cooking school and workshop space in Trastevere, Rome, founded by food and beverage writer and culinary guide Katie Parla.

Our classes go beyond the recipe to explore the ingredients, techniques, people, and traditions that shape Italian cooking. Learn alongside Katie, the Parla Cucina team, and a rotating lineup of chefs, pizza makers, and other people who know their stuff.

Whether you’re making pasta for the first time or you’ve been doing it for decades, come hungry and curious.

the classes

Cooking classes. Pizza workshops. Visiting chefs. Deep dives into Italy’s regional cuisines. There’s always something happening in the Parla Cucina kitchen.

the space was built for cooking together

At the center of Parla Cucina is a big Carrara marble counter made for rolling pasta, stretching dough, chopping, tasting, talking, and learning side by side.

Katie created Parla Cucina as a home for the kind of food experiences she loves most: hands-on, deeply rooted in place, and centered around people who have something worth sharing.

She leads select classes herself and curates a rotating lineup of cooks, chefs, pizza makers, and other experts who bring their own knowledge and traditions to the kitchen.

Three nests of uncooked spaghetti pasta sit on a small metal tray on a scratched metal surface.
Ancient stone columns and ruins stand in the Roman Forum under a partly cloudy sky, with scattered tourists and historic buildings in the background.

“I elevated my pasta-making skills, learned two delicious new dishes, and left eager to return for another lesson.”

— Amanda K.

“The lunch we prepared rivaled some of the best food we ate during our time in Rome.”

— Rick Federico

“Even as a professional chef, I learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class.”

— Roxanne G.
